GUTMAG is a collaborative art publication founded and directed by Sullivan Sweet. Each issue functions as both a printed publication and a live production event. Sullivan leads concept development, editorial direction, print production, and distribution.
Available at Printed Matter and Quimby’s Bookstore.
Issue 1: Guts
The inaugural issue, Guts, transformed an empty room into a temporary editorial studio. Blank spreads were installed on the walls and used by invited artists to layer writing, painting, collage, and photographs into a collective publication.
Issue 2: Doubles
The second issue, Doubles, expanded this model through an open call and a one-day production session. Contributors responded to the theme of pairing through individual and collaborative works.
GUTMAG x Melt
In 2026, GUTMAG collaborated with the band Melt to produce a limited-edition zine built from hundreds of fan submissions. Contributors traveled from across the country for an in-person production session, where texts and photographs were collaged and assembled into a hand-bound issue.
The zine debuted at Melt’s sold-out Snow Day concert at Racket NYC.
